‘Our game, our three points’ – Roy Hodgson throws a strop after Wolves late show

Roy Hodgson is refusing to take any positives from Crystal Palace’s 1-1 draw with Wolves.

Palace appeared to be heading for what Hodgson felt would have been a ‘deserved’ three points before Diogo Jota pounced to level in the fifth minute of stoppage time at Selhurst Park.

Despite struggling to contain Wolves in the first half, Palace improved after the break and took the lead through Joel Ward’s deflected strike.

Asked what positives his side could take from the match, Hodgson unleashed: “Must you always take positives out of a game? I don’t know. Why must one always take positives out of a game?

“It’s very hard after the game to feel positive when you’ve seen a very good performance, three very clear and well deserved points (slip away), I don’t know how you can talk about positivity. We don’t feel positive at the moment, we feel very disappointed and upset.”

Wolves are still without a win in the Premier League but Hodgson believes Nuno Espirito Santo’s men will return to the Midlands feeling like they nabbed three points instead of one.

“(It’s) unbelievably disappointing,” Hodgson said. “I thought we did more than enough in the second half to win it, perhaps we should have taken one or two of those very good chances we created.

“Maybe then we wouldn’t have been concerned about a cross coming into our box at the end of the game – but we didn’t. We weren’t able to manage those last five minutes.

“They took the chance and they’ll go away very happy this evening, feeling that they’ve won the game really.

“When you’ve been trailing for a long time and you’ve had a long time to come to terms with the fact that you’re probably not going to get any points, and then you get one, it’s a great feeling, it’s a happy feeling, it’s a feeling of victory. In contrast to that, this is our game, our three points and it suddenly becomes one, it’s like a defeat.”
