Lionel Messi rinsed by rivals after ‘tasting own medicine’ in shock Barcelona loss
The Argentine could not stop his side suffering a 2-0 loss to the in-form La Liga side.
Vadillo’s penalty and a goal two minutes in from Ramon Azeez sent Granada to the top of the table last night.
It leaves Barca in seventh, outside of the European spots after five games.
The game saw a return to league action for Messi after a foot injury over the summer.
But footage has emerged of the five-time Ballon D’Or winner being put in his place on his comeback.
In the clip, Barca are on the attack in the second half at a corner kick.
The ball breaks away, Vadillo running onto the right wing.
Messi is the only man in front of the 22-year-old.
Granada’s forward, though, was not fazed by the Argentine – and decided to show off his own skills.
The youngster pushes the ball through the Barca captain’s legs to sprint into space.
This footage has been viewed thousands of times since it was posted on Twitter last night.
And rivals fans laid into Messi as he was beaten.
“He’s not a defender,” one supporter said.
Another commented: “Messi made to lie on greener pastures.
While a third simply added: “Messi can’t even run anymore. He just walks.”
And a fourth added: “Messi tasting the medicine he gives other players.”
It comes as Barca manager Ernesto Valverde has given an update on the injury.
