‘Get them crumbling’ Aston Villa fans look forward to Arsenal encounter
Aston Villa make their third trip to the capital in just over a month, hoping to return with points for the first time.
Dean Smith’s men have already played twice in London in their opening five games, losing both to Tottenham and Crystal Palace.
Later today they head to north London and The Emirates to face Arsenal, who themselves are desperate to right some wrongs from previous weeks.
The Gunners have come under scrutiny after failing to win any of their last three top flight fixtures. But a much changed side travelled to Frankfurt in Germany on Thursday night, winning 3-0 in a mightily impressive Europa League opener.
A win for Smith’s side could see them go as high as 12th in the table after a positive day’s results on Saturday.
Here’s how the travelling fans are feeling ahead of this afternoon’s clash with the Gunners:

@Brummie David: Call me mad you Villa boys and girls but I have a good feeling for tomorrow…Arsenal 1 – 3 Aston Villa.
@NathanCotterill: Imgaine the scenes if we beat arsenal
Maqroll: Probably not the best time to play them seeing as they will be mad and really up for it. That said, they are pathetic in a way only Arsenal could be, so if we can get a goal or two we can win this. We have a decent record at the Emirates as well don’t we?
Dale: Arsenal are giving away a penalty a game at the moment. Push Jack up and get him running at Luiz. Conceded most shots in the league, we need to push forward and get them crumbling.
Jareth: This will be like Spurs, we’ll put a shift in but Arsenal will have too much and come away with the win. I’d expect that outcome.
Tayls: We still seem to be inviting pressure, and struggle to keep the ball in the middle. I didn’t watch all of the game yesterday, but from what I did see, we struggled, and that was at home. Unfortunately Arsenal are good at unlocking teams and passing in tight spaces. Think we’ll get a hammering here. 4-0.
VillaLad21: Arsenal are fantastic at Emirates. Think we’re in for a defeat here.
Vive_la_Villa: Anything at Emirates is a bonus. Hopefully we can a play like we did for the first half against Spurs. Keep Cabella and Aubemeyang quiet and I don’t think they even that special. Pepe looks good but is raw. Their defence is shocking.
How will Aston Villa get on against Arsenal?
1000+ VOTES SO FAR
Keyblade: Their problem is defence. Ours is that our attack is too impotent to even exploit that defence at the moment. Their strength is in attack while ours is in defence. It’ll be an interesting battle to see which attack/defence comes out on top.
MikeyJAVFC: Even if we get nothing from this game, I am looking forward to seeing Wesley throwing his weight around against their dodgy back line!
OutbyEaster?: I think Arsenal struggle against physical teams – both those that throw their weight around and those that are based around athleticism. That ain’t us; we’re a footballing side. I think we’ve defended well this season, but I think we might be in for a tricky time here – I’m really struggling to see anything but a defeat, and it might be a big one.I hope i’m wrong.
