Barcelona: Sporting CP deny claims of Ansu Fati’s father over offer: You haven’t done the maths
Barcelona Released a statement
Sporting CP have denied the claims of Ansu Fati‘s father, Bori, that the youngster was only offered a place in the club’s youth team.
The Barcelona youngster’s father recently stated that Ansu, who has made a blistering start in the Blaugrana first team this campaign, would’ve joined the Portuguese club had he been offered a starting berth.
“I can guarantee that if Sporting would have offered my son a chance in the first eleven, he could have left for Portugal,” Bori Fati told A Bola.
Sporting did not take long to respond to those claims, releasing a statement on the club’s website accusing the player’s father of spreading lies.
“To say that the player would have to stay in the youth setup shows a real lack of knowledge about our club,” Sporting stated.
“There are players who are 16 years old in the U23 and U18 sides, so you haven’t done the maths, as the player could never be recruited for our youth team, because he was born in 2002 , which means that he would be in the U19 side.
“Sporting’s scouts not only identified the player’s potential, but also convinced him to come to Alcohete to meet with our coaches; we knew he was not in a rush to extend his contract with Barcelona at this time.
“We cannot always sign the players that we have scouted, because we have a limited financial capacity and hence cannot meet the astronomical prices that are often quoted.”
