Tennis: Federer and Nadal team up to coach Fognini
Tennis They are teammates at the Laver Cup
The Laver Cup team tennis tournament is taking place right now and Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are both on Team Europe, along with Fabio Fognini.
The two tennis superstars were filmed coaching Fognini during his singles match against American Jack Sock.
“There are new balls now, so it’s going to be difficult,” Federer said, leaning over the Italian’s left.
“That’s number one.
“Number two is I want no more negative, I want you to be only positive.
“If you go back to return, you do it because you have good intentions.
“If he hits a good forehand, we respect it.
“Maybe it was lucky, it doesn’t matter.
“Believe in the good thing.”
Federer spoke to him in English, before Nadal had a few words in Spanish.
“Your return is perfect, you can’t get frustrated,” the Spaniard said.
“It’s perfect, it gives you a chance.”
Next, it was back to Federer.
“Do not be frustrated and think that something bad is going to happen because he get lucky,” the Swiss said.
“Make him hit a great shot and we accept it.”
Then Nadal had the last word.
“Make him do it, make him do it,” was the man from Mallorca’s advice.
“And if he does, then we go.”
The advice didn’t seem to work, though, as Fognini lost 6-1, 7-6 to Sock.
