Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plots double transfer raid on Tottenham
The Brazilian ace, who signed a new five-year deal with Spurs only in July, is high on United’s list of potential transfer targets over the next 12 months.
Despite becoming a firm favourite with the Spurs faithful – thanks to his crucial strikes en route to last season’s Champions League final – Moura is struggling to convince Mauricio Pochettino he should be a regular starter.
In five appearances this season coming into the weekend, the ex-Paris Saint-German ace, 27, had either been named on the bench or subbed.
And that apparent lack of faith in him from White Hart Lane boss Pochettino is giving the player serious cause for concern.
Unless that situation changes between now and January, Moura will be increasingly keen to quit the north Londoners.
All of which would be ideal for United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is a huge admirer of the versatile South American.
Solskjaer views Moura as the best solution to the problem – with the player equally at home operating on the flanks, down the middle or behind a main striker.
And £50m-rated Moura is not the only unhappy Spurs star on United’s radar right now.
England midfielder Eric Dier, 25, heavily out of favour with Pochettino, is also being monitored by the Manchester outfit.
Before yesterday’s trip to Leicester, Dier had not played a single minute this season – having been left on the bench in five of Tottenham‘s six games.
United, in the market for a holding midfielder, could well make a cut-price swoop for him in January should that scenario persist.
Since his fall from grace at club level, Dier, a £4m buy from Portuguese side Sporting CP in 2014, has fallen down the pecking order in Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions set-up.
