Arsenal line up Hungary int’l to replace Ceballos next summer

Arsenal are monitoring the progress of Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai with a view to making a move for the player next summer, claims a report.

The Gunners were interested in the 18-year-old during the summer, but did not make a firm move to land the player, who impressed, scoring in Salzburg’s 6-2 win over Genk in a Champions League on Tuesday night.

According to Football London, Juventus and Inter Milan are among Szoboszlai’s potential suitors, after a brilliant start to the season which has seen the Hungarian score three goals and grab two assists.

The outlet report that “any move for Szoboszlai would likely not be made until the summer” with Unai Emery not yet ready to make an offer for the starlet.

Emery and Arsenal head of football Raul Sanllehi apparently want to assess their own young players and see the impact Dani Ceballos makes and whether the Spanish star returns to Real Madrid next summer before deciding on Szoboszlai.

Arsenal are also said to be watching Szoboszlai’s team-mate Erling Haaland, who hit a hat-trick against Genk, and who has already been linked with Man Utd.

Szoboszlai joined Salzburg in 2017 and earlier this year he admitted he was happy in Austria for the time being but was aware of speculation surrounding him.

“A lot of people say that my style of play is close to Sergej Milinkovic-Savic [of Lazio] and Toni Kroos [of Real Madrid]. It is a great thing to hear that,” said Szoboszlai.
