Chelsea to hand contracts to three more players once Callum Hudson-Odoi deal confirmed

Chelsea are poised to hand Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori and Reece James new deals after Callum Hudson-Odoi finally puts pen to paper on an extension at the club.

The latter, 18, only has a year to run on his current contract and was heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich earlier this year.

If he fails to agree a new deal by January, the German outfit will be able to negotiate a free transfer with Hudson-Odoi under the Bosman ruling.

Fortunately for Blues fans, though, it is believed the England international is on the verge of signing a new five-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

Hudson-Odoi became a key player for the Blues last season and ultimately attracted interest from Bayern Munich

And according to The Athletic, he will not be the last academy graduate to extend his stay at the club this season.

They claim Abraham, Tomori and James will also commit their futures to Chelsea once the Hudson-Odoi saga is complete.

Frank Lampard is leading a youth revolution in west London this term, with Abraham and Tomori getting on the scoresheet in Saturday’s 5-2 win away at Wolves.

Tomori produced an outrageous 35-yard strike to break the deadlock at Molineux, before Abraham’s brilliant hat-trick put them out of sight.

Another homegrown starlet was required to seal the victory, nevertheless, when Wolves pulled two goals back late in the second half.

Mason Mount latched onto a pass from Michy Batshuayi and cut inside to net Chelsea’s fifth, capping a wonderful day for their promising crop of young talent.

Astonishingly, all 11 of the Blues’ Premier League goals this season have come through academy graduates.

Reece James is another young star the Blues want to tie down

Abraham has already netted seven goals, Mount has registered three and Tomori’s wonderstrike was his very first for the club.

James is yet to make his first-team bow after damaging his ankle ligaments over the summer, but he is expected to play a big part for Lampard’s side upon return after impressing on loan at Wigan last term.

Along with Hudson-Odoi, who has been out with an Achilles injury since April, the right-back returned to competitive action in Chelsea Under-23’s 2-1 win over Brighton on Friday night.
