Roma troll Arsenal fan with hilarious tweet after Henrikh Mkhitaryan joke goes wrong | Football | Sport

An Arsenal fan has been trolled by Roma’s official Twitter account after their draw against Watford on Sunday.

The Gunners raced into a 2-0 lead before half-time with two goals from star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The second-half proved more difficult, as Watford got back level through Tom Cleverly and a Roberto Pereyra penalty.

Meanwhile, Henrikh Mkhitaryan was taking part in his debut for Roma after joining on a season-long loan in the eventual 4-2 victory over Sassuolo.

The joke began when Gunners fan Smokey sent a message to the Giallorossi account replied to the news of Mkhitaryan’s strike by saying: “We’re currently winning 2-0 without him, please keep him.”

A short while later, after Watford drew level, the same fan said: “Not today Arsenal not today come on.”

Roma’s English language admin responded: “Not today Smokey, not today.”

The 30-year-old has left Arsenal on loan after just one full season in London.

He said after moving to Italy: “It’s a great opportunity for me to begin a new chapter, with a great club.

“I know what this club is all about and I am sure we can achieve great things together.

“At the beginning they were just rumours, then things materialised.

“I thought about it and I decided to come to the Rome.

“Scoring goals makes me feel good, but also helping the team do so with an assist, and more importantly winning – is important.

“We often hear that an assist is worth more than a goal.

“I look forward to working with [Paulo] Fonseca, I’ve seen his former sides and I liked them a lot, I hope he can pass on his ideas to Roma.

“I still haven’t talked to Fonseca and I don’t know his style or philosophy but I have high expectations, I think he can help the club a lot.”
