Aston Villa live news: West Ham threat, Dean Smith selection hint, red-hot Villa Park and match build-up
Grealish fumes but looks ahead to special Villa Park atmosphere
Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish admits he was so fuelled up by rage after the Crystal Palace defeat last time out that he couldn’t sit still.
The 24-year-old was booked for an apparent dive by referee Kevin Friend before teeing up Henri Lansbury to score what should have been a legitimate late equaliser at Selhurst Park.
Fast-forward two weeks and Grealish is still bubbling away with anger, saying: “It was a massive frustration that night, ahh horrible! I just couldn’t really sit still for the night. It was a tough one to take but it’s something you’ve just got to deal with. I was so angry.
“Throughout the season you’ll get decisions which go for you and against you. We’re sitting here on three points out of four games when we should definitely have a few more.”
Villa’s main man, meanwhile, spoke to club media ahead of Monday night’s West Ham fixture and harped back to THAT Friday night at Villa Park last time out against Everton, beaming: “I knew it was going to be like that, knew it!”
“That is the one thing,” he added, [the players] couldn’t believe the atmosphere, they’ve all said it, the lads, they couldn’t believe that Everton game, Friday night under the lights. I knew it was going to be like that, knew it.
“I’ve seen videos on Twitter after and stuff. I can’t explain just how much it helps the lads when the stadium’s like that. We’re hoping for the same again against West Ham.
“West Ham have made a brilliant start, I was speaking to Snoddy [Robert Snodgrass] having a joke about the game and we’re looking forward to it.”
