Pogba, Martial, Wan-Bissaka – Manchester United’s eight injured players and their expected return dates

Paul Pogba

Pogba picked up an ankle problem against Southampton before the international break and missed France’s Euro 2020 qualifying wins over Albania and Andorra as a result. He will not play against Leicester.

Possible return date: 22 September vs West Ham

Anthony Martial

Martial has not played since United’s home defeat by Palace due to a thigh problem he picked up in the latter stages of that game. Like Pogba, he has been ruled out of Saturday’s meeting with Leicester.

Luke Shaw

A hamstring injury Shaw picked up against Palace prevented him from featuring against Southampton.

He will not play against Leicester and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not say in his press conference on Friday whether the defender is in contention to return against West Ham.

Possible return date: Unknown

Eric Bailly

Bailly’s return is still some way away after he sustained a serious knee injury against Tottenham in pre-season.

Possible return date: Unknown (long-term injury)

Diogo Dalot

Dalot was on the bench for United’s final pre-season game against AC Milan in Cardiff but a hip injury prevented him from featuring in any of United’s opening four Premier League games.

The Portuguese recently spent 10 days in Shanghai having treatment on the problem but it is not clear when he will return.

Possible return date: Unknown

Timothy Fosu-Mensah

Probably the only player on this list who will not feature even when he does return to fitness.

It is likely that he is only still at Old Trafford because he is currently recovering from knee surgery and United wouldn’t have been able to loan him out or sell him during the transfer window.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

A back injury forced Wan-Bissaka to withdraw from England’s recent games against Bulgaria and Kosovo but he is in contention to play against Leicester.

Possible return date: 14 September vs Leicester

Jesse Lingard

Lingard was sent back to United last weekend after being ruled out of England’s games through illness but he could play against Leicester.
