What Bernd Leno has said about Tottenham and Chelsea that every Arsenal fan will love | Football | Sport
All three teams have looked to increase their presence on the global stage in recent years, as they compete in European competitions and in pre-season tours abroad.
However, Leno feels that Arsenal’s fans base surpasses those of their London rivals.
In a recent interview with German publication SportBild the 27-year-old was asked to compare Arsenal and Leverkusen, he said: “You can’t compare that, of course Arsenal is a world club, ‘the’ club here in London.
“No matter where we are, also in the USA or in Asia, there are many fans of Arsenal everywhere.”
All three clubs haven’t had the best start to the season, although after four games Arsenal sit above their neighbours in the Premier League table.
However, when it comes to recent European success both of the Gunners rivals would likely claim to have the upper hand.
While both the Blues and Tottenham are in the Champions League this campaign, Spurs also reached the final of the competition last season, which is a feat the Gunners last managed back in the 2005/06 season when they lost 2-1 to Barcelona.
All three sides are back in action this weekend, after the international break, as they look to move up into a top-four spot in the Premier League.
Tottenham host Crystal Palace in what could be a tricky tie, given that the Eagles have only conceded two goals in their opening four games.
While Chelsea travel to Molineux to take on a Wolves side who have only lost one game so far in this campaign.
