Tyson Fury reveals real reason brother Tommy won’t appear in ITV reality show
Tyson Fury is set to unleash his no holds barred autobiography later this year – after his reality show airs for the first time.
Meet the Furys will feature boxer Tyson as well as the rest of their family – but, sadly, Love Island’s Tommy won’t feature.
Filmed over several months, the series follows the Gypsy King and his family as he fulfils his childhood dream of defending his heavyweight boxing lineal championship in Las Vegas and prepares to take on his arch-rival Deontay Wilder for a second time.
ITV said it will give viewers “an unprecedented insight into the life of one of the most fascinating and controversial figures in British sport”.
Speaking about the series on Wednesday’s Good Morning Britain , which will give viewers unprecedented access ringside and inside his Morecambe home, he said: “They’ve been following me around for the last few months, most of the comeback actually.
“An insight on Tyson Fury as a husband, father, son, boxer and as an everyday person really. It’s a real behind-the-scenes show of my life.”
When questioned by Susanna Reid about a possible cameo from Tommy, the 31-year-old said: “Tommy doesn’t make an appearance.”
But then he added a small detail that may excite Love Island fans: “But Tommy has got his own TV show going on I believe as well.”
The series will have a front row seat inside Tyson’s Morecambe home and at the Gypsy King’s family site, capturing him amongst his inner circle of family and friends who have lived through Tyson’s mental health and addiction issues with him.
Wife Paris and their five children, his Dad John, who trained him to become a champion boxer from when he was eight years old, Tyson’s brothers and a cast of friends and the broader Fury clan will also feature in this four-part series.
ITV Head of Development Factual Entertainment Kate Teckman said: ‘’This is a unique opportunity to gain an insight into this enigmatic figure whose battles inside and outside the ring have made him one of the most talked about people in popular culture.
“With unprecedented access, this series aims to offer a full picture of Tyson Fury and his background that is sure to pin viewers to the ropes.’’
The series is said to combine a “warm and at times emotional family saga” with raw and unflinching scenes of Tyson preparing for the fight against German Tom Schwarz and September’s Otto Wallin bout.
