Man Utd make Real Madrid player swap demand in Paul Pogba January transfer talks

Manchester United are willing to sell Paul Pogba to Real Madrid – but only if Toni Kroos is included in the deal.

The France international was a top target for Los Blancos in the summer.

However, United’s hefty £150m asking price stopped a deal getting done.

Real have already spent lavishly in recent weeks after their disappointing 2018/19 campaign.

But Zidane seemingly isn’t willing to give up the chase for his compatriot.

Spanish media outlet Diario Madridista claim United were actively vying Kroos in the summer.

And, if a cash-plus player offer is tabled, a deal could be done in January.

Zidane has an obsession, which is still Pogba,” said Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda.

“The French coach is a person of fixed ideas and insists on Paul.

“They will try in January and there have already been the first contacts with United.

“In the conversations that still exist between emissaries from Madrid and United, a name has been put – Toni Kroos.

“United tried to sign Kroos this summer and it is the one that United would ask for as a condition.

”For him they offered this summer £75m and that caused him to sign a new contract with Real.”

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane continues to demand big money signings

Jose Mourinho’s adviser, Eladio Parames, suggested Real’s interest was all designed to appease their own support.

Real Madrid‘s involvement was far less real than it seemed,” he told The Sun.

“In fact – a truth that one day will come out – they were not interested in opening the purse strings.

“And why? Because they realised that buying him would also mean buying the problems he creates in the dressing-room,

“Hence there has never been an official declaration of interest, rather just letting the news run to feed their fans’ passions and boosting newspaper sales and audiences of radios and televisions.”

Manchester United host 2016 Premier League winner Leicester at Old Trafford on Saturday [3pm kick off].
