Vincent Kompany’s post testimonial plans revealed as Man City plot celebration

Vincent Kompany will celebrate his remarkable Manchester City career in an evening of celebration this evening but his legacy will long live on with the club planning special tributes.

The Belgian defender made 360 appearances for City before leaving the club at the end of the season. The 35-year-old, now a player-coach at

Anderlecht, was an integral part of the squad that ended City’s 35-year wait for a trophy with the 2011 FA Cup.

He went on to lead the team to four Premier League titles, four League Cups and two Community Shields. And ahead of tonight’s testimonial, that sees a Man City Legends side go up against a Premier League All Stars XI, City have been paying tribute to their leader.

At the club’s training ground, City unveiled a lasting tribute with the road connecting the City Football Academy youth and community pitches with the club’s First Team Centre being renamed ‘Vincent Kompany Crescent’ and is marked by a mosaic inspired by his unforgettable goal celebration in the 2012 Manchester derby.
