Gary Neville subject of hilarious Vincent Kompany testimonial prank
To celebrate Vincent Kompany’s career at the Etihad, and to raise money for charity, a Premier League All Stars XI will go up against a Man City Legends side.
Kompany won’t be competing after suffering a hamstring injury but Neville is due to feature for the opposition.
And the 35-year-old has revealed how Neville was going to be the subject of a hilarious prank if Leroy Sane was set to feature.
Kompany said: “There are so many old faces, and I want to see who is still in shape and who is not anymore! I remember a lot of conversations in the dressing room… ‘What are you going to do when you stop playing?’
“Nigel de Jong is still playing, so I’ll have to wait for another time with him, but I think he was going to go the other way! Those you think go one way, they don’t, and the people you think go the other way, they don’t!
“I’m looking forward to seeing whose in shape mainly, and reminiscing about the stories we still remember from the dressing room.
“It’s unfortunate that Leroy Sane is out with a knee injury, because I would have put him on Gary Neville. My goal was to put the fastest winger I could find on Gary Neville’s side! Unless he goes and hides at centre-back, we’ll see.”
Sane has long been ruled out of the match through injury after suffering knee ligament damage.
But the sight of the German running at a retired Neville will have been one to savour for City fans.
However, the Sky Sports pundit is still set to be in for a busy evening.
City will have the likes of Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Mario Balotelli causing him problems.
As for the Premier League All Stars line of attack, they possess the Thierry Henry, Robin van Persie and Cesc Fabregas.
