Man Utd’s Pogba has spoken with Lionel Messi and one Real Madrid ace over transfer
Manchester United managed to keep Paul Pogba this summer despite intense speculation over his future.
And his brother, Mathias, has revealed that his sibling was talking to rival players over a move.
Barcelona were one club interested in his services after the £89m man revealed he was looking for a new challenge.
Since then, it has been revealed that Lionel Messi was contacted by the former Juventus midfielder.
However, Sergio Ramos was not talked to despite strong links that Pogba was looking to sign for Real Madrid.
Mathias said: “I know he’s spoken with a few players, but not Ramos.
“Who? Oh, Messi. Sometimes, not always. Zlatan [Ibrahimovic]. [Antoine] Griezmann, because of the national team.”
Despite blanking Ramos, it was revealed that his defensive partner, Raphael Varane, has been speaking to Pogba.
Pogba has made no secret over his willingness to leave – with a chance to play under Zinedine Zidane too good to pass up on.
But Real refused to meet United’s asking price of £150m and the 26-year-old remained at Old Trafford.
His agent Mino Raiola told the Times in July: “Everyone knows the willingness of Paul to move on. We are in the process of that. Everyone knows what the feelings of Paul are.”
However, that has not stopped the Red Devils from opening contract talks as they look to extend the World Cup winner’s current terms.
Pogba was ruled out of international action this week after suffering from an injury against Southampton.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now sweating on his fitness, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Jesse Lingard also joining him on the physio table over the break.
