The Stoke City manager odds as ex-Birmingham City and West Brom bosses named favourites
Birmingham City piled on the misery for Stoke City on Saturday as they came behind to beat the bottom-of-the-table side.
The Potters, who have picked up just one Championship point so far, were on the way to a first win of the season when Liam Lindsay headed them into the lead just before the hour mark at St Andrew’s.
But Lukas Jutkiewicz brought the hosts level when got on the end of Maxime Colin’s cross to power home at the back post.
Then, Jude Bellingham became the youngest scorer in Blues’ history when his shot from outside the box took a heavy deflection and trickled into the back of the net.
That turned out to be the winner – and heaped more pressure onto Stoke boss Nathan Jones.
Jones was appointed as Potters manager in January and won just three of his 21 matches at the helm in the second half of last season.
Their terrible start to the campaign has prompted further questions about his position and bookies are now offering odds on who his replacement could be.
And the St Andrew’s connection to Jones’ future goes further than Saturday’s defeat with former Blues manager Chris Hughton the overwhelming favourite (evens) to take the job should it become available.
Hughton spent a season in charge at B9, leading Blues to the play-offs as well as overseeing a memorable Europa League campaign.
Former West Bromwich Albion and Middlesbrough chief Tony Pulis is second favourite (17/2).
