Andreas Pereira reveals Manchester United aims for the season

Andreas Pereira has his sights set on winning silverware with Manchester United in what could be a breakthrough season for the midfielder.

The Brazilian has featured in both United’s Premier League games so far this season, providing the assist for Anthony Martial’s goal against Chelsea and coming on as a substitute at Wolves.

And amid talk over the extent of his playing time and what will constitute a successful season for Pereira and United as a collective, the 23-year-old revealed his goals in conversation with the official United website.

“I want to win trophies this year for United and bring the joy back to the club, to see the fans happy,” he said.

“I just want to get a lot of game-time and help the team as much as I can — score goals, make assists and win trophies.

“We’ve had very hard training sessions and prepared very well. We have to get used to winning and getting prepared for games by doing the right thing, I think that is what we have done as it’s been a very good preparation.”

After spending the 2017/18 campaign on loan at Valencia and progressing into the United first team squad last season — when he scored his first United Premier League goal, a sublime strike against Southampton — Pereira is now keen to grasp his opportunities this season.

United didn’t sign a midfielder to replace the departed Ander Herrera in the summer and Pereira looks set for a more prominent role under Solskjaer.

“I feel very confident and very happy,” he added. “The manager gave me a lot of confidence, and the staff as well, so I feel very happy and very strong.

“I feel mature. I’ve played a lot of games and I’m a different type of player now and I’m ready for what’s coming next.“
