‘To the very top’ What Everton fans are saying about Aston Villa

Aston Villa face Everton as two of English football’s oldest and most traditional clubs lock horns in the top flight once again.

Marco Silva’s Everton side come to B6 on the back of an extremely encouraging opening pair of league encounters.

They have four points and have yet to concede a goal, meaning a win over Villa on Friday night would see them top the Premier League, for a few hours at least.

Villa meanwhile will be hoping to get off the mark after two promising, but pointless, performances against Spurs and Bournemouth.

A raucous Villa crowd will be hoping to make the difference after being stunned on Saturday, with the Cherries scoring in the opening two minutes.

It will be a sold out Villa Park, with the full contingent of Toffees fans making the trip from Merseyside to fill their section of the Doug Ellis Stand.

We’ve taken a look at popular Everton fan forum A Grand Old Team to get a flavour of how Friday’s visitors feel ahead of the big game.

Must reads…

Aazak: Missed them a little – seems like years since I’ve heard a commentator say “the most played top flight fixture in world football”.

Dannyboy: Night game at Villa Park after they have had two defeats isn’t exactly what we need. Be a decent test of character for our team. If we come away with three points, we will have done extremely well.

Verbal Kint: Tricky this… get an early goal and they could capitulate, they have dangerous players. McGinn was an excellent signing, going to the very top is that lad, another publeague?? Export may i add

ForeverBlue92: Our away form is garbage- you just know these will get their only point(s) against us then lose their next 5 with the manager booted

Nymzee: They were garbage against Bournemouth but I thought pretty great at Spurs before Eriksen came on. Could go either way.

Desaparecido: This will be a stiff challenge. Everton aren’t firing on all cylinders yet, are vulnerable to a super motivated newly promoted side who are used to winning. Will be a narrow win at best. I hope no new injuries nor suspensions either.

Ricer10: Grealish has lost 20 in a row ?! ….That’s us done on Friday then !

Gwladys Blue: Villa Park under the floodlights and they’ll be desperate for a win. Hopefully they come at us full pelt and we can counter attack them.  We haven’t really got started this season in terms of good performances, so I’m expecting a lot better this game. Hope for a win, but can see a score draw

Scotchbutterpin: We’ll batter these. 0-3 win.

toffeeL: It’s weird to think that they spent so much money in the summer, their squad looks very average. It will be a difficult game though, they’re going to bang up for it to get their first points of the season so we’re going to have to maintain our excellent defensive record and make sure we’re razor sharp upfront (that means no DcL).
