Liverpool fans think Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson mocked Arsenal pair with celebration

Liverpool fans think defensive pair Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson aimed a dig at Arsenal’s star forwards in training.

The Reds are preparing to take on the Gunners at Anfield on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are level at the top of the Premier League with the north London team after two games.

Liverpool are hoping to go one better than their second-place finish last year.

But they face a challenge from Gunners pair Lacazette and Aubameyang.

Footage has emerged, though, which suggests two players are up to facing the goal-scorers.

In the clip, the Reds squad are training at Melwood.

The players have been split into two teams, with Van Dijk and Robertson on the same side.

Liverpool’s Dutch defender passes the ball to his full-back at pace.

And the pair exchange some quick passes before the centre-back feeds a team-mate to score.

Van Dijk and Robertson then come together to celebrate in an unusual way.

The Reds pair shake hands while nodding to each other.

This footage was shared on the club’s official Twitter page yesterday, where it has been viewed more than 750,000 times.

And the Anfield faithful think the defenders were mocking Gunners’ star forwards.

“They’re copying Auba and Laca’s celebration,” one supporter said.

Unai Emery’s top scorers regularly used the same handshake last season.

Another commented: “Move aside, Auba and Laca.”

While a third added: “Better than Aubameyang and Lacazette.”

It comes as Klopp is set to let two stars leave Anfield before the European transfer window closes.
