What Paul Pogba did in Man Utd dressing room after Wolves penalty miss

Paul Pogba was contrite in the Manchester United dressing room after failing to score from the spot against Wolves.

Pogba stepped up from 12 yards after being fouled by Conor Coady in the second half at Molineux, despite Marcus Rashford converting a penalty in the 4-0 win against Chelsea.

Rui Patricio denied the £89m midfielder, however, sparking an outcry from pundits and fans.

It soured an otherwise promising performance by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men, who were denied all three points by Ruben Neves’ wonder goal.

According to The Sun , United’s dressing room was a hive of activity after the final whistle.

Pogba, to his credit, reportedly accepted responsibility for his blunder and apologised to team-mates.

Despite saying sorry, The Sun claim Pogba was stripped of penalty duty by Solskjaer.

Solskjaer publicly defended Pogba’s right to take the kick saying: “The two of them are designated penalty takers.

“It’s up to them there and then. It’s not a case of one guy over the other. Marcus would have loved it but Paul was confident and I like that feeling when a player thinks ‘I can do this.’”

While Rashford added: “Paul wanted to take it, so he took it. Everyone can miss a penalty. He’s scored countless of penalties for us.

“It’s normal to miss one. We go again in the next game, if we play how we did today then we will be fine.”

The Frenchman has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford all summer.

But a move to Real Madrid appears unlikely due to his £180m price tag.

A transfer cannot be ruled out, however, because the European window remains open until September 2.
