PSG to reject Barcelona loan transfer bid for Neymar amid financial fears
It is understood that Barcelona tabled an offer for the 27-year-old which would see him join on loan this season.
The bid included an obligation to buy in 12 months time with PSG keen to recoup as much of their £198m outlay as possible.
But PSG don’t believe the Spanish side will be able to produce a lump sum next summer leaving them to wait even longer for the fee, reports ESPN .
Barcelona have spent close to £200m on Antoine Griezmann and Frenkie De Jong this summer meaning cash is not readily available.
PSG’s Qatari owners are willing to let Neymar leave Paris having seen him become a disruptive influence within the group.
Neymar left the club in bitter circumstances two years ago, but the two parties are ready to reconcile if a deal can be done.
That is complicated though by Philippe Coutinho’s move to Bayern Munich as PSG saw the playmaker as, potentially, part of the deal.
The Catalans still face the lingering threat of Real Madrid who are also tracking the PSG star.
He has been left out of the French club’s opening two games and is currently training alone while the situation remains unresolved.
