This is how Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp greeted Aston Villa’s latest Premier League defeat

At one point this summer, Aston Villa was touted as Harry Wilson’s most likely destination, with Dean Smith reportedly interested in the Liverpool youngster.

In the end he joined Premier League rivals Bournemouth and any regret was compounded as he fired the Cherries into a two goal lead at Villa Park.

His goal had more than a hint of a fortune about it, with his shot from distance taking a cruel deflection of ex-Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings.

But the Welsh international’s performance on B6 still managed to catch the eye of his full-time manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Kop boss keeps a close eye on all of his Anfield loanees as he continues to monitor his options both at, and away from Anfield.

And following his goalscoring turn on Saturday, Klopp had a message for the 22-year-old. Wilson returned to the Villa Park changing rooms to a selfie from the charismatic German, with an accompanying message that read: “Well done – we’re all delighted for you.”

As well as compliments from his parent club, those who are seeing his talents every day in training, were also full of praise for the Liverpool Academy graduate.

“Harry Wilson looked brilliant – very sharp. Showed why he’s really rated. I think we can expect big things from him this season,” said Bournemouth teammate Steve Cook.
