The Man Utd summer arrival who is eyeing up iconic No7 shirt amid Alexis Sanchez exit

Manchester United new boy Hannibal Mejbri has his sights set on the No7 shirt at Old Trafford.

The 16-year-old complete his switch from Monaco earlier this summer and will sign a professional contract on his 17th birthday.

And despite his age and status he has earmarked wearing the No7 as an ambition he wants to achieve, as shown on his Instagram account.

Its current occupant is Alexis Sanchez, but his move to Inter Milan nears closer with Italian representatives flying over to England.

The Chilean is United’s highest earner, but his poor displays since arriving at Old Trafford have not justified the money.

Should he move to the San Siro he will leave behind a shirt number formerly worn by Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, Eric Cantona and Geroge Best.

Mejbri posted a photo of the No7 shirt on social media and is likely to don the number for the club’s youth team when he plays.

And he is already speaking like a player without fear so it is unlikely the No7 would phase him after he consulted several of his compatriots before moving to Manchester.

Among young people, there is also Noam Emeran. We were together in Clairefontaine,” he said.

Mejbri has lofty ambitions at Old Trafford

“I spoke to him on the phone, he said: ‘Here it’s really good, come on!’

“His presence will help me to integrate sooner. Aliou Traore has been there for two years, he will be able to share his experience and advise me.

“It [the move] does not scare me. My parents will always be with me to accompany me.

“On the pitch you just have to talk football. Outside, there is the language, but it can be learned.

Ronaldo is among United’s elite players to have worn the No7 shirt

“Their language is a bit difficult, but I was doing well in English so it should be fine.

“It will also be necessary to get used to the climate. But we feel that Manchester is a city that eats and breathes football, it’s beautiful.”

United’s other summer arrivals picked their numbers prior to the season getting underway.

Winger Daniel James took the No21 shirt, right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka got the No29 jersey, while Harry Maguire picked up the No5 shirt.
