Real Madrid: Courtois: LaLiga begins from the first match, not before
Real Madrid Made vital saves in victory over Celta
Thibaut Courtois has praised the performance of his teammates after Real Madrid made a promising start to the LaLiga Santander season.
Courtois himself contributed to 3-1 win, making two key saves to prevent Iago Aspas and Nestor Araujo from scoring for the home team, to help Los Blancos forget about a miserable pre-season.
“We have worked hard, and at times the results haven’t gone well in pre-season due to various factors,” Courtois admitted after the match. “Gareth Bale had a great game.
“LaLiga starts from the first day and not before.
“We have worked well this week and played well in the first half. With a player less, we fought together and scored two more goals in the second half.”
“I am training well, then I leave it up to the coach,” Courtois went on. “I haven’t managed to have a entire pre-season.
“After the World Cup and everything we did, you get tired physically and mentally. I had to adapt.
“I still think there were some good games, even if the results didn’t reflect that. Now we are into a new campaign.”
