Wolves expressed interest in this Manchester United transfer target- reports
Wolverhampton Wanderers’ summer transfer window went under the radar to most common observers.
Lavishly backed by FOSUN, many around the country forecast a statement summer at Molineux, as they look to gatecrash the top six.
Arguably that didn’t happen, but Wolves did improve the depth in their squad with a number of smart signings toward the end of the window.
And now another name has emerged that club bosses were interested during the closing weeks of the window.
The 21-year-old enjoyed a breakout season with the Dutch giants, scoring 15 times and registering a further 13 assists.
PSV were reportedly chasing €40m for Bergwijn, with none of the chasing pack getting close to that figure.
The Netherlands international has now put to bed rumours of a PSV exit by signing a five-year-deal with the club.
Speaking after signing his new contract, he said: “This is the right decision.
“I had other options, but in the end everything has to fit well for me, but also for PSV. The result is that I’m staying here, with a lot of joy and confidence.
“That means I’m feeling well here and I’m not done learning. I get to play for trophies here and feel very at home in Eindhoven.”
