Why Chelsea star Christian Pulisic snubbed Manchester United transfer | Football | Sport
He has impressed for the Blues so far with Chelsea hosting Leicester today in their second Premier League match of the season.
But Pulisic could have been preparing to face Wolves with Manchester United instead.
Pulisic enjoyed a spell at non-League Brackley Town when he was just seven.
“When I was in Dortmund last year, I told him that he had to come.
“It was at that point I asked: ‘What about London? That’s where it’s at.’
“I was trying to sell the city. His agent agreed, saying: ‘When you make these decisions, it’s all about investment and property.’
“I was delighted that he did sign.”
Pulisic may not be guaranteed a starting spot currently under Frank Lampard.
Chelsea have a wealth of attacking options in Pedro, Willian, Mason Mount, Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi.
Pulisic often plays further forward but former Chelsea man Craig Burley believes the American needs to show his abilities more consistently.
“From Pulisic’s point of view, I think Frank Lampard’s going to have to get a settled front three that can work together,” Burley said.
“Left, right, through the middle. It’s probably going to be [Olivier] Giroud and I would say it’s probably going to be Pedro and Pulisic.
“I thought Pulisic played well [vs Liverpool in Super Cup], I thought he had a quiet 20 minutes but then the second half of the first half I think he looked really sharp.
“Don’t forget he came off the bench at Man United when the game was pretty much gone.
“He’s got the ability to play in the Premier League and create and he’s going to have too for the money that they paid for him and the position that they’re in.”
