This is what Aston Villa fan Joe Lolley said about beating Birmingham City
Joe Lolley just loves playing against Birmingham City.
The winger was on target yet again as Nottingham Forest ran out comfortable winners at the City Ground.
Lolley has developed a reputation as a bogey player for Blues such is his record when playing against them.
Lolley’s goal on Saturday means he has struck when facing Blues in each of the last three seasons.
During the visit to Forest 12 months ago, the 26-year-old scored the hosts’ first goal as they fought back from 2-0 down to earn a draw.
In March 2018, Lolley opened the scoring at the City Ground in a 2-1 victory.
To add insult to injury for Blues, Lolley’s Aston Villa allegiances are no secret and he seemed to make the most of that connection on Saturday, running straight over to the away end after finding the net and revelling in the reactions of those in it.
When former Villa striker Lewis Grabban added Forest’s second after Lolley’s cross, the diminutive flier did the same thing again, making a beeline towards the visiting supporters.
And he couldn’t hide his delight after Michael Dawson added a third, taking to Twitter with a simple message saying “great win” and attaching a snap of his celebration.
Lolley was actually on the books at Blues as a youngster before being released and going on to make a name for himself in non-league.
He also enjoyed success against his former academy club before signing for Forest, scoring an equaliser for Huddersfield Town at St Andrew’s in March 2015.
