Man City player ratings: Kevin de Bruyne excellent and Rodri solid vs Tottenham – Charlotte Duncker

Ederson – Little to do, beaten by Lamela and his positioning could have been better. 6

Kyle Walker – Good run down the right to set up Sterling early on and was a positive going forward. Out jumped by Lamela for Spurs’ second. 7

Aymeric Laporte – Intercepted a couple of dangerous balls but gave Lamela too much space for the goal. 7

Nicolas Otamendi – Made a number of important interceptions to cut out the Spurs attack and looked solid enough next to Laporte.

Oleks Zinchenko –  Easily beaten by Sissoko in the first half but had a couple of shots on target, one of which tested Lloris early in the second half.

Ilkay Gundogan – Had been helping to run the show in City’s midfield in the first half but should have done better for Lamela’s goal. Should have scored just before the break and looked slightly off the pace in the second. Lucky not to be substituted. 6

Rodri – Another solid display from the club’s record signing and should have had a penalty in the first half. As impressive defensively as he is going forward and forced a save from Lloris with a shot from the edge of the area in the second half. Replaced by Silva in the 77th minute after another dominant display. 8

Kevin de Bruyne – Ran the show again. Set the tone for his game when he provided a perfect assist for Sterling’s opener and it was the Belgian’s perfect delivery to assist Aguero for City’s second. 9

Raheem Sterling – Caused Spurs problems down the left and scored a diving low header making it five goals in the opening three games this season. In great form. 8

Bernardo Silva – Back in the starting XI having started the campaign opener and was lively down the right. Should have got on the score sheet in the second half. Brought off for Mahrez 10 minutes from time.

Sergio Aguero – A quiet game for the Argentine who but got City’s second with a tap in had a good chance to add another to his tally when Sterling played him through in the 52nd minute. Was replaced by Jesus and Guardiola gave him a berating when he sat down on the bench. 6

Gabriel Jesus – Came on for Aguero in 65th minute, fashioned a few chances for himself and thought he had scored the winner in stoppage time. 7

David Silva – Replaced Rodri in the 77th minute with City searching for a winner but couldn’t change the game. 6

Riyad Mahrez – Came on for Bernardo in the 79th minute couldn’t give City the spark Guardiola was after. 6
