Joe Willock reveals what Arsenal players see from Dani Ceballos in training ‘every day’

Arsenal youngster Joe Willock says Dani Ceballos is already making his mark in north London.

The Spaniard put in a virtuoso display on his home debut against Burnley yesterday.

Ceballos is highly regarded in his homeland, but was allowed to leave Real Madrid on loan with Zinedine Zidane well stocked in midfield.

After Denis Suarez’s ill-fated temporary stint at the Emirates last season, expectations were mixed on the terraces. But Willock says the Arsenal dressing room quickly realised Ceballos is the real deal.

“You see in training every day he’s technical and he’s from a big club like Real Madrid,” he explained.

“Those are the performances we expect – but he was brilliant today.”

The Gunners secured a 2-1 win over the Clarets. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the winner after Alexandre Lacazette put the home side ahead.

“We didn’t control the game as much as we wanted,” Emery said.

“We need to improve. Each match is giving us a lot of information. I think we can do better.

“We lost some easy balls at times, but in general we can be proud of our first match here.”

When asked about Arsenal’s summer acquisitions, he added: “I want to speak about the team, but for the first match [at home] it was good.

“It’s good for David [Luiz], for Pepe, for Dani [Ceballos], who are another step ahead.”

Ashley Barnes had equalised for Burnley before half-time, but Sean Dyche’s men couldn’t hang on.

“I don’t feel hard done by. I think it was a very good performance,” Dyche told reporters.

“We used the ball wisely when we could. They had a few chances, [Nick] Pope made a superb save.

“Overall I am happy with the performance – we really brought the game to them and made a number of chances.”

Arsenal will face Liverpool at Anfield next Saturday [5:30pm].
