The 23-year-old, who penned a six-year deal in Madrid in 2017 when he was poached from Real Betis, was allowed to leave this summer in search of regular game time.

A permanent departure from Real was initially mooted but Zinedine Zidane still sees a future for Ceballos in Spain.

The player himself hopes to properly break through eventually at Real too, having made 34 appearances in all competitions last season.

More experience will be gained in Arsenal’s midfield this term.

Arsenal’s Dani Ceballos celebrated their second goal after he assisted Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s strike against Burnley

And going on his showing against Sean Dyche’s men, he will be a regular within Emery’s team.

After watching the lunchtime kick-off today, Lineker Tweeted his appreciation for Ceballos’ skill and composure in the middle of the park.

He posted: “ Ceballos is a lovey footballer. Admired him at Betis”.

Lineker, though, added: “Wondered why it hasn’t really happened for him at Real Madrid.”

But Lineker then also suggested: “They were very average last season.”

If Real chiefs were watching the game in north London today, they will be delighted to see what Ceballos can achieve before returning to the Bernabeu a better player come June.

Up next for the Gunners is a tough test at Champions League winners Liverpool.

It is likely, given his top display today, that Arsenal boss Emery will start Ceballos at Anfield next Saturday.
