Wolves target tells all as Liverpool star is slammed and Manchester United’s transfer blunder revealed – PL rumours

The transfer window is closed, but there is still plenty of gossip floating around.

We take a look at what is being said about Wolves and the rest of the Premier League.

Danny Loader has issued a message to Reading fans following the collapse of his transfer to Wolves.

The 18-year-old forward appeared set to move to Molineux on deadline day but Reading’s demands scuppered the deal at the death.

Loader has now returned to Reading with manager Jose Gomes admitting the youngster is ‘frustrated’ that he didn’t secure his dream move to the Premier League with Wolves.

And the England youth international has now addressed the situation via a long post on Instagram.

“I want to write this message to be open with all of you,” he said.

Target gets club

Croatian attacker Ivan Perisic, who has been linked with a transfer to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the last two windows, has signed for German giants Bayern Munich.

The 30-year-old joins Bayern on a season-long loan from Italian club Inter Milan which is reportedly worth £4.6million.

Perisic has also been linked with Manchester United, who Wolves meet at Molineux on Monday evening. But his transfer to Bayern ends speculation over a move to the Premier League for the time being.

Talent spotter joins Wolves

Former Aston Villa chief scout Ian Atkins is joining Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Atkins was sacked by Villa in September as part of a major shake-up in the scouting department at Villa Park.

The reasons behind Atkins’ dismissal remain unknown but he’ll now be tasked with finding Wolves new players from across Europe.

Atkins knows the European market extremely well having talent spotted on the continent for Villa, Everton and Sunderland during a long career.

Birmingham-born Atkins, 62, enjoyed a long playing career with the likes of Shrewsbury Town and Birmingham City before moving into management.

Atkins then spent 16 years in management in the lower leagues before turning his attentions to scouting and watching games across the globe.

The transfer window is now over but Wolves will continue to monitor players ahead of it re-opening in January and Atkins will play a part in that.

Elsewhere in the Premier League…

Ex-Palace chief labels Sturridge a “problem”

Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has launched a scathing attack on former Liverpool and Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge.

Sturridge will reportedly decide on his future this week as he weighs up offers from 13 clubs around the globe.

The striker was released by  Liverpool  in the summer following the expiry of his contract after an injury-plagued few years at Anfield.

However none of those reported 13 teams are from the Premier League and Jordan believes that is because he is a ‘problem’ and a bad example to younger players.

Asked on  TalkSport  whether he would sign the striker if he was still in charge of a club, he said: “No. Not in any parallel universe would I sign Daniel Sturridge. Not for me.

“I wouldn’t even give him a pay as you play deal.

“I wouldn’t want Sturridge in my dressing room or at my training ground around younger players.

“He’s a very, very, very talented footballer but he’s a divisive influence. Jurgen Klopp has never had him since day one he arrived at Liverpool.

“He’s one of those players who plays entirely for himself. He is, in my view, all about himself.”

Spurs fear Toby going on a free

Spurs fear they could now lose Toby Alderweireld for nothing next summer.

The club have been willing to listen to offers for the 30-year-old Belgian whose £25million release clause expired two weeks before the transfer deadline. But no serious bid has been forthcoming.

Alderweireld now has a year left on his contract and is understood to be ready to run his last 12 months down in order to determine his own future.

It would mean he is able to field offers from foreign clubs in January and walk away at the end of the season.

Roma have been the only club interested this summer but failed to meet the £25m fee and are unlikely now to come up with an acceptable offer before Europe’s September 2 deadline.

Moyes reveals why he did not sign Maguire

Former Manchester United boss David Moyes has revealed that he considered bringing Harry Maguire to Old Trafford during his short spell as manager – but was put off a potential move due to the defender’s “big a**”.

United have chased Maguire all summer and finally secured his signature after forking out a whopping £80million – a world record for a defender – to prise him away from  Leicester  City.

The centre-back has taken little time to settle in his new surroundings and produced a debut Man of the Match performance as the Red Devils thrashed  Chelsea  4-0 on Sunday.

And Moyes, who was sacked in April 2014 after just 10 months at the United helm, has explained why he decided against pursuing an interest in Maguire, who was playing for boyhood club Sheffield United at the time.
