The latest Aston Villa injury news ahead of Bournemouth clash


Aston Villa’s injuries are the inconveniences that get in the way of Dean Smith fielding his strongest claret and blue team from one week to the next.

The new-look 2019/20 squad performed so bravely at Tottenham in their Premier League opener and go up against AFC Bournemouth in front of a packed Villa Park on Saturday.

Injury: Achilles

Details: The Norwegian ruptured his Achilles in training on December 30. He’s currently back training with the first team but didn’t feature in pre-season with his injury still being closely monitored.

Last match: Saturday, December 29 – Preston 1 Villa 1, 90 minutes

Expected return date: Unknown

JAMES CHESTER

Injury: Hamstring

Details: Returned into the Villa fold for the club’s Minnesota camp and played 45 minutes in the 3-0 friendly victory over the MLS side. Was back in a Villa shirt four days later at Shrewsbury Town but hobbled off after twinging in hamstring. Missed friendlies at Walsall, Charlton and Leipzig.
