Jermaine Jenas backs Villa to win while Sam Quek expects a score draw against Bournemouth

Well…what a start to the Premier League season, hey? Goals, a red card and VAR – it’s safe to say there was plenty to talk about.

Brighton’s 3-0 win against Watford was not written in any script as Graham Potter secured his first win as a Premier League manager.

Man City continue to dominate at the London Stadium after Raheem Sterling’s hat-trick helped guide Pep Guardiola’s team to victory in a five-goal thriller against West Ham United.

And Liverpool started strongly after adding another convincing Premier League win at home to Norwich City.

Ahead of this week, footie5 ambassadors Jermaine Jenas and Sam Quek have had their say on five games this weekend.

No surprise that Liverpool fan Sam is backing an away win at Southampton while both are predicting West Ham to get their first point of the season away to Brighton.

Wigan Athletic v Leeds United

A disappointing start to the season for the Latics means they have to find their first points of the season against 5/2 title favourites Leeds United who are looking for their second home win of the season.

JJ: Wigan 1-2 Leeds

Wigan can be tough opposition at home and will want to bounce back after that big defeat to Preston but I think Leeds will just edge this one.

SQ: Wigan 0 vs Leeds 2

I think Leeds will secure automatic promotion this season, mainly because Marcelo Biesla is a special manager. He’ll mastermind an away win.

Southampton v Liverpool

Southampton will want to get points on the table quickly after a disappointing start but it will not be easy as they face Liverpool.

JJ: Saints 1 – 4 Liverpool

Still a lot to work on defensively for Southampton and Liverpool are looking in ruthless mood going forward!

SQ: Southampton 0 vs Liverpool 2

Liverpool looked a little defensively frail when I have watched them, but I expect any early season teething problems to be sorted now.

Norwich City v Newcastle United

Both teams will want to bounce to winning ways after tough tests last week. Norwich will be hoping to put their drubbing away to Liverpool behind them while Steve Bruce will want to bounce back from Newcastle’s home defeat to Arsenal.

JJ: Norwich 2-2 Newcastle

Yes Norwich were a bit naive at times in their first game but going forward they have shown why they were so exciting to watch in the Championship last season.

SQ: Norwich 2 vs Newcastle 1

Norwich showed enough in the second half when I watched them vs Liverpool for me to believe they will beat Newcastle at home.

Brighton & Hove Albion v West Ham United

Brighton fans will still be buzzing after their impressive win against Watford while West Ham will want to bounce back after being thrashed by Man City.

JJ: Brighton 1-1 West Ham

Tough start for West Ham against City but they had some good spells which they can take some confidence from. Brighton surprised us all with their performance but I’m expecting the Irons to bounce back and nick a draw so SCORE DRAW!

SQ: Brighton 2 vs West Ham 2

West Ham were turned over by a dominant Man City, but should put up more of a fight vs the Seagulls, who surprised Watford. I’ll go a draw.

Aston Villa v Bournemouth

Both sides will want to get a result after displaying decent performances last weekend but missing out on three points.

JJ: Aston Villa 2-1 Bournemouth

Villa looked a threat for 45mins against Spurs I think Wesley will but to much for that Bournemouth defence.

SQ: Aston Villa 2 vs Bournemouth 2

I’m going for double points with a score draw. I like Eddie Howe’s style of play a lot and Villa spent big in summer.
