Gary Neville taunts Jamie Carragher over Mo Salah Liverpool transfer – ‘He’ll leave in next 12 months’
Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool before the end of the season, according Gary Neville.
And the Sky Sports pundit reckons that the Egyptian’s departure could pave the way for his former club Manchester United to win the Premier League before the Reds.
Salah has been brilliant for Liverpool since making the move from Roma two seasons ago.
The 27-year-old has won the Golden Boot for the last two Premier League campaigns, bagging 54 goals in the process.
His wonderful form is rumoured to have attracted the interest of some of Europe’s big boys, but Liverpool have so far been able to hang onto the forward.
But Neville, who won eight Premier League titles throughout his Manchester United career, thinks that he could be off sooner rather than later.
Speaking on Sky Bet’s Big Debate with Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher, Neville said: “Salah’s going to leave in the next 12 months, I can see it already.
“He [Carragher] knows, he won’t say it. I can see it, you can feel it, you can smell it, you know when a player’s like….”
Liverpool will be desperate to hang onto Salah, arguably their most important player over the last two years, for as long as possible.
While the English transfer window slammed shut for the summer on August 8, it is still possible that a bid could come in from the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona before their window closes on September 2.
This is highly unlikely though and Liverpool would be very reluctant to sell, even if the bid was astronomical.
The club do have a history of selling on their best players to Spanish clubs in recent years however, with the likes of Luis Suarez, Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano, all making the move to La Liga.
But the newly-crowned European champions are an attractive proposition for anyone at the moment.
This was highlighted in the summer when Klopp was able to keep hold of all of his star players, including Virgil van Dijk, Sadio Mane, and Salah himself.
Neville added that a Salah’s departure could then pave the way for Manchester United to overtake Liverpool in the race for the Premier League.
“I can guarantee you as clear as day, Manchester United will win again. They’ll probably win the league before Liverpool, in my opinion,” Neville added.
“And that’s not being disrespectful, they’ll probably win the league before Liverpool.”
