Leeds fans in meltdown after Eddie Nketiah goal vs Salford – ‘Play him every week’
Marcelo Bielsa was keen to replace the outgoing Kemar Roofe following his departure to Anderlecht.
Nketiah made seven appearances for Arsenal during pre-season, scoring three goals, which included a last-minute winner against Bayern Munich and a brace against Fiorentina.
And Gunners boss Unai Emery admitted that he was initially unsure about allowing his young talent to leave on loan.
Nketiah sat out Leeds’ Championship game against Nottingham Forest.
But he was handed a debut by Bielsa in the Carabao Cup tie at Salford on Tuesday night.
And he did not disappoint, bagging the opener with a clinical finish on 43 minutes.
The striker gambled with Helder Costa racing down the right flank and was on hand to slot the ball home from six yards out.
It was a lovely debut goal for Nketiah and fans have taken to social media to show their delight.
Some have called for Bielsa to play him every week, while others think he should replace Patrick Bamford.
“Start him on Saturday I beg,” wrote one fan.
“Play him every week,” said another.
One fan simply wrote: “EDDDIEEEEEE NKETIAH KING.”
Another said: “Sign of a good striker. Starved of service, but pops up in the perfect position for a tap in. A fox in the box.”
“He’s gonna fire us to the premier league,” said one Leeds fan.
While another wrote: “Bielsa needs to play him every week over Bamford.”
