Barcelona: Griezmann is earning forgiveness
Antoine Griezmann was clear when he arrived at Barcelona that he would earn his forgiveness on the pitch, and it seems as though he’s staying true to his word.
It hasn’t been an easy integration for him at the Camp Nou, but he started to show glimpses against Napoli on Saturday as he got off the mark and also started to combine well with Luis Suarez.
As important as the goal was, the development of his understanding with Suarez is arguably what matters most.
Once Lionel Messi returns, you can expect the Catalans’ frontline to become ever stronger.
Even without Messi, Ousmane Dembele offered a lively option as the third member of the attack. He’s impressed when he’s played this summer and although he still has work to do, he is showing promise.
Those inside the dressing room have said that he looks a different player already this season. He’s more switched on, happier, and more involved on a daily basis.
Dembele is making a big effort to integrate into the squad and it’s being received well.
It remains to be seen what will happen, but he’ll certainly retake his place in the starting XI, and Dembele is the most likely to be sacrificed.
Ernesto Valverde doesn’t see any problem with having an abundance of attackers though, and he’s happy to have options to choose from.
