Alex Iwobi’s move from Arsenal to Everton is officially over the line.
The £35m transfer has seen the winger pen a five-year contract at Goodison Park.
“He worked hard in the academy where he was an example to many young players and has been an important part of our squad. We wish Alex every success in the future.”
Unai Emery said: “David has huge experience and I look forward to working with him again. He is a well known player and adds to our defensive strength.”
Luiz will wear the No.23 shirt.
Where’s Luiz? #AnnounceLuiz
Still no sign of confirmation from the Emirates Stadium over the arrival of David Luiz…
The Brazilian had a medical earlier today but only Kieran Tierney’s move from Celtic has been announced so far.
So long as Arsenal got the paperwork done in time, which it is believe they have done, the big reveal could be any time tonight. Sit tight all.
At the Emirates Stadium, Gunners fans are anticipating a goal-fest this season following their summer business.
Nicolas Pepe’s £72m cub-record arrival from Lille strengthens Unai Emery’s side even further in attack.
Arsenal now have one of the most potent attacks in the Premier League.
So with the FPL deadline at 7pm on Friday night ahead of the opening game of the season between Liverpool and Norwich, who are the three Gunners stars you must have in your team?
Leicester done deal
Dennis Praet has been confirmed as a Leicester player just in time.
The midfielder has joined from Sampdoria for £18m.
The 25-year-old could make his debut this weekend when the Foxes
Iwobi having Everton medical
Alex Iwobi will have a medical in London ahead of a proposed £40m move to Everton from Arsenal.
Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi has reportedly agreed a deal worth £35m-£40m with Everton in a dramatic deadline day twist.
BBC Sport journalist David Ornstein broke the news just after the 5pm deadline had passed.
He tweeted: “Everton have agreed a deal to sign Arsenal and Nigeria winger Alex Iwobi for a fee in the region of £35-40m.”
Ryan Sessegnon’s transfer to Tottenham from Fulham is now official.
Midfielder Josh Onomah has gone the other way on a three-year contract as part of the deal.
The switch is worth up to £30m with 19-year-old Sessegnon returning to the top-flight following Fulham’s relegation.
The left-back has penned a six-year contract.
Everton agree Iwobi fee
Arsenal could end up selling Alex Iwobi to Everton before the end of the day.
Starsport understands a £35m fee has been agreed at the 11th hour.
A £30m offer was rejected yesterday but with Wilfried Zaha staying at Crystal Palace, Everton have moved to seal a deal for Arsenal‘s Nigeria international winger
It is now a race to get the paperwork done in time.
The 5pm deadline is here. Here is the state of play:
– Arsenal have confirmed Kieran Tierney
– David Luiz is expected to join Arsenal in the coming hours.
– Everton have launched a late bid for Alex Iwobi – which has been accepted
– Wilfried Zaha is staying at Crystal Palace
– Ryan Sessegnon has been spotted in a Tottenham kit – but Spurs are yet to announce Giovani Lo Celso
– Marcos Rojo will be staying at Manchester United
Done deals GALORE!
In the space of one minute, Andy Carroll and Kieran Tierney are confirmed as Newcastle and Arsenal players respectively.
Ryan Sessegnon has also been spotted in a Tottenham kit……
Crystal Palace Chalov interest ended
Starsport understands Crystal Palace are not signing Russia striker Fedor Chalov.
The Eagles made two bids but CSKA Moscow want at least £28m, which they deemed too much.
Chalov will stay in Russia for now.
The clock is ticking…
20 minutes remaining and still so many deals to be confirmed!
– Will we see Arsenal land both David Luiz and Kieran Tierney?
– Tottenham continue to finalise a double deal for Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon
– Are any other clubs set to please their fans with a late announcement?
Nketiah joins Leeds
The youngster has played sporadically in the first team under Arsene Wenger and Unai Emery.
And after impressing in pre-season, Leeds have snapped up the forward.
Nketiah took to Twitter earlier today to announce his pleasure at the loan switch.
The Belgian has left Manchester United after going on strike in recent days.
Lukaku completed his medical earlier today in Italy, being mobbed by fans as he entered and left the medical centre.
The striker has posed for photos and videos in the famous blue and black kit in the past few minutes.
Meanwhile, back in Manchester fans are fuming that a replacement for Lukaku hasn’t been brought in.
The word from Merseyside…
Everton remain hopeful of securing Marcos Rojo before the transfer window closes at 5pm but they have yet to agree a deal with Manchester United for the Argentina defender.
It is a deal that should get done before the deadline.
However, they have not yet made a fresh bid for Wilfried Zaha despite the winger handing in a transfer request at Crystal Palace.
Everton’s only bid was a £52m offer which was rejected two weeks ago.
They did not offer James McCarthy and Cenk Tosun plus £65m which was claimed.
They have also yet not returned for Alex Iwobi after a failed £30m bid for the Arsenal man yesterday.
Dybala deal a non-starter
In the end, optimism from some Spurs sources over Paulo Dybala proved misplaced.
But Starsport understands Dybala was never totally sold on the idea of joining Tottenham.
Image rights and personal terms were also a problem in talks, but it was always Juventus pushing a move rather than Dybala, who favours a move to PSG if he is to leave Italy.
Drinkwater heading to Burnley
Danny Drinkwater has passed a medical at Burnley as he nears a temporary Chelsea exit.
The Blues star is close to joining the Clarets on loan after a dismal spell at Stamford Bridge.
Drinkwater’s excessive wages have put other teams off.
But Chelsea may stump up a portion of the player’s salary to ensure he is shipped out to Turf Moor.
West Brom and Stoke – DONE DEALS
West Brom have completed a season-long loan deal for West Ham midfielder Grady Diangana.
And it all came down to the personal touch with Baggies’ boss Slaven Bilic making a phone call to his former club to try and seal the deal.
The 21-year-old, who made 17 appearances last season, looked like he was on his way to Derby before Bilic’s intervention.
“Without any doubt I believe a lot in this club. The present and future will continue to be one of the top teams in the world and I believe it’s the ideal place for me.
Meanwhile, Stoke have clinched a season long loan deal for Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers.
Potters’ boss Nathan Jones moved for the USA international after skipper Ryan Shawcross broke his ankle in the pre-season friendly against Leicester.
Cancelo’s first words
Cancelo, who is Guardiola‘s third and final summer signing, admits he is close friends with Portuguese and former Juve team-mate Ronaldo.
But he insists he couldn’t resist the chance to join the ‘perfect’ team in the most exciting league in world football.
Concelo, 25, said: “Obviously I’ve got a friend in Ronaldo at Juventus. He helped me a lot while I was there. He is the best -and an extraordinary person.
“We stay in touch, we talk and are good friends, but I thought at the time it was best to come to City
“The way I see football, City are almost the perfect team. They way they play, always attacking, yet defending at the same time and always with high pressure. I think that’s amazing.”
Our man on the ground in London…
Starsport understands barring any late hitches Giovani Lo Celso will sign for Spurs.
Final fee could eventually reach £69m but Spurs only paying initial £14.7m loan fee.
Becomes permanent if they qualify for the UCL. If they don’t, they get to choose.
An absolute steal considering release clause was £88m!
Carroll back to NUFC?
Newcastle won’t be rushing into finalising a deal for prodigal son Andy Carroll.
A move back to Tyneside is very much on for the 30-year-old, who was released by West Ham in June.
Due to his appalling fitness record, Carroll will have to undergo a rigorous medical with Newcastle wanting cast-iron reassurances he has recovered from ankle surgery five months ago.
But the odds are that the striker will rejoin the club he left in a £35m switch to Liverpool in 2011.
Deadline day deal
The trusty fax machine… responsible in part for so many transfer deals over the years! (Let’s not talk about David de Gea’s supposed move to Real Madrid…)
To ensure no deals fall through at the final minute this season, Amazon has delivered a brand-new state-of-the-art fax machine to the Premier League HQ completely free of charge.
Amazon Prime members wanting to set themselves up for a no-risk means of communication with their friends throughout the season can take advantage of the up to 50% fax machine sale before 23.59pm tonight here.
Another Tottenham deal in doubt…
Tottenham deadline day looks to have gone from bad to worse as their move to Ryan Sessegnon has stalled.
The Fulham star has been expected to join the north London club all summer.
However, the Daily Mirror claim talks have hit a stumbling block.
Spurs have been locked in discussions with the Championship side all summer in a bid to settle on a fee for the starlet.
The 19-year-old has been recovering from a hamstring injury during pre-season which has not helped, but a £25m agreement seemed to have been reached.
Newcastle DONE DEAL!
Swedish international Emil Krafth has completed his £5m move to Newcastle from Ligue 1 side Amiens.
The right-sided defender has signed a four year contract at St James’ Park and comes into contention for Sunday’s Premier League opener at home to Arsenal.
“We’re pleased to bring him here,” said Toon chief . “He turned 25 last week and has great experience, with more than 20 caps for Sweden and having played in the top flight in three different countries.
“He’s a good height for a full-back, speaks excellent English and is a very good player. He’s a really good acquisition.”
Dybala deal OFF
Juventus have decided not to sell Paulo Dybala
The Argentinian was linked with Manchester United last week.
But this week it looked like Spurs were set to steal the attacker at the 11th hour.
However, Dybala now looks set to stay at the Allianz Stadium.
No Mandzukic deal
But senior United sources have confirmed to Starsport that Mandzukic will not be coming to Old Trafford before the transfer window closes.
A club source said: “There will be no deal with Mandzukic. He is not someone we are interested in.”
Starsport Merseyside update
The Toffees are hoping for a busy day with staff at Finch Farm preparing to unveil at least two more signings but there is a lot of work to be done.
Wilfried Zaha handed in a transfer request at Crystal Palace in a bid to force his way to Goodison Park but the Blues have yet to make a new bid for the Ivory Coast winger.
They will have to bid around £40m to land Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi.
While Marco Silva is keen for a central defender with Premier League experience.
There will be no new signings at Liverpool today with the only focus being on preparations for tomorrow’s Premier League opener against Norwich at Anfield.
There may be some outgoings with Ryan Kent available if the Reds’ valuation is met for a permanent deal.
Leicester confident over Praet
Leicester are confident they can complete a deadline day smash and grab for Sampdoria midfield star Dennis Praet.
The Belgian international looks set to complete an £18m switch to The Foxes with a medical pencilled in for later today.
The 25-year-old was also on Valencia‘s wish list, but Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers looks like getting his man.
Sampdoria were hoping to get in the region of £24 for Praet but Leicester have stood firm and now look clear favourites to finalise a deal.
Attacking midfielder Praet looks set to link up with his old Anderlecht team mate Youri Tielemans, Leicester’s £40m summer signing.
Just across the river in Sunderland…
How times have changed at the Stadium of Light
Thirteen years ago this month, newly-appointed Sunderland boss Roy Keane signed six players on deadline day to ignite the Black Cats’ promotion push.
Among those who came in were Dwight Yorke, Ross Wallace, Stan Varga and the late Liam Miller.
There will be no repeat this time. In fact, it will be very quiet on Wearside today because now that Sunderland are in League One, they still have a few weeks left in their transfer window!
Update from our man in the north east
Winger Jacob Murphy is due to arrive at Hillsborough very soon to clinch a season-long loan move at Sheffield Wednesday.
He could yet be joined by Rolando Aarons who spent a loan stint with the Owls last term.
And defender Achraf Lazaar has been given permission to fly out to Italy to try to find a club in Serie A or B having been frozen out at Newcastle.
Jack Colback would prefer to stay put but the midfielder could be on the move too.
Keeper Rob Elliot is definitely staying. He’ll be third choice keeper behind Martin Dubravka and Karl Darlow.
Striker Dwight Gayle is being eyed by a number of Championship clubs but his personal terms could put off would-be buyers.
And anyway, Steve Bruce has already said he would prefer Gayle to stay with the Magpies.
West Ham DONE DEAL!
The Swiss international has joined on a four-year deal despite interest from West Brom.
“I’m very excited to be here,” said the forward, who will wear the Hammers’ No 27 jersey. “It is a pleasure for me to be here, at this big club.
“Once I felt West Ham’s interest, I didn’t have to think twice about signing for such a big, traditional club in the Premier League. This is a big day for me and my family.”
Bruce’s loan dilemma
Newcastle boss Steve Bruce has to decide whether to loan out Matty Longstaff, younger brother of Sean or hang on to him.
The teenager has enjoyed an outstanding pre-season culminating in a first-ever Toon goal against Saint-Etienne last weekend.
Twelve months ago, Sean was on the verge of joining Portsmouth on loan only for Rafa Benitez to pull the plug on the deal at the 11th hour.
Several Championship and League One clubs want Matty, also a midfielder, but such has been his progress, Bruce may want to involve him from the outset.
Since he’s still eligible for the Under 21 squad, the bonus for Bruce is that he does not have to be included in his 25-man squad.
Dybala’s Tottenham hint
Footage has shown the transfer target wearing the Juventus captain’s armband, with the Spurs faithful think this gesture is a big hint at the Argentine’s future.
“Why does he have the armband,” one supporter said. “Could be a farewell.”
Another commented: “Dybala captain for his final game with Juve?”
Dybala is 4/9 with bookmakers to join Tottenham.
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson said: “After enduring what seemed to be barren transfer window after barren transfer window, Spurs fans can finally rejoice at their activity in the market.
“Punters and bookies are seemingly set on one destination for the Argentine, with it looking likely he’ll join up with the North London side.Adding the likes of Paulo Dybala to the side that reached the Champions League final last year is certainly a statement of intent.
Double Arsenal agreement
Arsenal are said to have agreed deals for both David Luiz and Kieran Tierney.
The duo are expected to undergo medicals in the coming hours.
Tierney will join on a five-year deal for £25m.
Luiz, who is pushing for a move to Arsenal, will be purchaed for £8m.
Jacob Murphy is close to leaving Newcastle on loan.
Sky Sports report that the winger will join Sheffield Wednesday today should he pass a medical.
The Owls are keen to land Murphy after losing Rolando Aarons, who returned to Tyneside when his own loan deal expired.
Murphy is surplus to requirements under Steve Bruce at Newcastle.
Improved Zaha offer
Everton are preparing a new bid for Crystal Palace wantaway Wilfried Zaha after the player handed in a transfer request.
The Toffees attempted to land the Ivorian on the penultimate day of the window, before being told by Palace that he still wasn’t for sale.
Zaha then handed in a transfer request in an attempt to secure a deadline day move away from Selhurst Park.
The Telegraph claims Everton will now return with a mammoth bid, which could be as high as £70m.
Cenk Tosun could be used as a makeweight in the deal, while Palace have already signed Everton star James McCarthy on a three-year contract.
Williams to Old Trafford
Manchester United will reportedly try to sign Inaki Williams from Athletic Bilbao today.
The Red Devils are said to be chasing the forward, who has a release clause of £81m.
Williams, 25, has made almost 200 appearances for Bilbao.
Luiz’s Arsenal demand
The Brazilian is reportedly on strike at the Blues as he looks to push through a move across London before 5pm today.
Luiz didn’t train on Wednesday and has informed the club of his desire to leave.
Arsenal are likely to land the defender for just £8m in the coming hours, with Sky Sports claiming a move will be done this morning.
Three deals for Tottenham
Tottenham could land a further three new arrivals on deadline day.
Giovani Lo Celso is expected to a Spurs player in the coming hours – after the club reached an agreement with Real Betis.
Paulo Dybala has reportedly agreed personal terms with Tottenham.
But the player’s image rights are proving a sticking point at present.
Finally, Philippe Coutinho continues to be linked with a move to Mauricio Pochettino‘s side.
Zaha to leave?
Wilfried Zaha has handed in a transfer request at Crystal Palace.
Everton are keen on the Eagles forward, who is valued at £80m.
Arsenal were interested earlier in the window but instead signed Nicolas Pepe for £72m.
The Toffees are expected to come back with a new offer on the final day of the window.
