Aston Villa fans will love – and hate – this transfer recommendation

Legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is pushing hard for the signing of John McGinn at Old Trafford, according to the Sun.

Sir Alex still has influence at the club he managed for more than 26 years between 1986 and 2013, and is reportedly advising those in power within United to make a significant move for Aston Villa midfielder McGinn, who is now a Scotland international.

Ferguson is said to be friends with McGinn’s grandfather and compatriot Jack.

United, under the guidance of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, are desperate to refresh their midfield this summer; they’ve lost Ander Herrera after the Spaniard chose to move to PSG at the end of his contract and have received interest in Paul Pogba.”/>

They’ve been warned off Sean Longstaff of Newcastle United, while they’ve also been linked with moves for Paulo Dybala of Juventus and Ivan Rakitic of Barcelona.

McGinn, 24, has been quite excellent since signing for Villa last summer from Hibernian for less than £3m.

He was a regular in midfield and scored in the play-off final win over Derby County in May.

The Sun claim that Villa haven’t any intentions of entertaining such interest and wouldn’t consider doing business for anything less than £50m.
