Man City predicted team vs Yokohama F. Marinos for last pre-season friendly
Yokohama FM host Man City tomorrow (Saturday, 11:30am BST) in their last trial game before the new season kicks off with the Community Shield clash against Liverpool on Sunday, August 4.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Tommy Doyle returned to the bench for the Kitchee match after being dropped for the clash against Wolves. It’s likely they will start this time around, while Adrian Bernabe should continue his solid pre-season.
Claudio Bravo has started in goal in all three of City’s pre-season games so far but Daniel Grimshaw may finally get a shout this time around.
Grimshaw is City’s third choice keeper and has not started in Hong Kong yet. With Guardiola known to be looking towards youth for this fixture, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the 21-year-old given a chance.
Senior stars such as Raheem Sterling, Aymeric Laporte, Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva, Leroy Sane and Bernando Silva all surprisingly started against Kitchee but Guardiola could rest them all on Saturday morning.
With that in mind, Phil Foden is anticipated to earn his first start of the pre-season after his time away with the England under-21s.
Foden came off the bench and produced a solid performance on Wednesday and should take that next step in his preparations for the upcoming campaign.
It’s likely Foden would take the place of Ilkay Gundogan, who may feature in the starting XI for the Blues in the Community Shield next Sunday.
Predicted Man City XI to face Yokohama FM: Grimshaw; Walker, Stones, Harwood-Bellis, Angelino; Foden, Doyle, Garcia; Bernabe, Poveda, Nmecha.
