Arsenal transfer news: The four deals Emery hopes to complete before August 8 deadline | Football | Sport
Despite having just a reported £40million to spend this summer, Arsenal are increasingly confident of securing a number of signings.
Gabriel Martinelli has moved to the Emirates Stadium and despite featuring during pre-season, he is likely to be loaned out before the campaign starts.
Arsenal are still yet to sign a centre-back however that could change soon.
It’s believed that they have won the race for Saint-Etienne defender William Saliba, despite Tottenham’s attempts to hijack the deal.
He will be loaned back to the Ligue 1 club for another season before joining up permanently with Unai Emery’s side 12 months down the line.
Another loan arrival has now been sealed.
Dani Ceballos arrived in London on Wednesday to undergo a medical before the move from Real Madrid was confirmed on Thursday afternoon.
Like Saliba, Spurs were also in the race but they were interested in a permanent deal, which Ceballos will not entertain given his desire to succeed at the Bernabeu.
Wilfried Zaha remains the clubs’s top transfer target but they are some way away from Crystal Palace’s valuation as it stands.
Unai Emery has been keen on signing the winger for some while, he netted a decisive goal as the Eagles won 3-2 at the Emirates in April.
They are believed to have made a number of bids already which have been turned away by Crystal Palace chiefs who are holding out for £70m.
Arsenal are expected to step up their efforts to sign him in the next two weeks and may offer players to Roy Hodgson as a sweetener.
Kieran Tierney is another player that Arsenal are desperate to bring to north London.
Their pre-season tour showed just why they are in desperate need of a new left-back.
Celtic do not need to sell though and are confident they will keep the Scotland international.
Arsenal have had two bids turned away for Tierney, the latest was in the region of £25m.
