‘We’ll speak with Aston Villa’ – This transfer decision is imminent
Carlisle United will make a decision on Aston Villa midfielder Lewis Brunt after their friendly with Tranmere on Tuesday night.
Brunt has linked up with Carlisle for a two-week training period with a view to the 18-year-old signing for the League Two side on loan.
The initial training stint was designed for Carlisle boss Steven Pressley to take a closer look at Brunt, and for Brunt to sample life up in Cumbria.
And Pressley has told the News & Star that a decision will be made on Brunt’s future after their pre-season friendly against Tranmere at Brunton Park.

Pressley said: “We’ll speak with Aston Villa after the game [tomorrow] and we’ll make a decision on that one.
“Probably [last] Thursday was his best training day thus far, and that was pleasing, but we’ll make an assessment on him and decide whether we keep him or whether his development is better at Aston Villa for the next period.”

Pressley has a good relationship with Villa boss Dean Smith and the claret and blues were happy with Callum O’Hare’s development there last season.
Midfielder O’Hare scored three times in 16 outings for Carlisle and has returned to play his part in Villa’s pre-season preparations for the upcoming Premier League campaign.
