‘We want to’ Club boss breaks his silence over Wolves and Liverpool transfer links
Mainz sporting director Rouven Schröder has admitted that they are happy to sell Jean-Phillipe Gbamin, amid Premier League interest.
It is believed that Mainz are chasing in the region of €30m for Gbamin, but Schroder has confirmed the club are looking to cash in.
“It is clearly movement and momentum in it. In part, the numbers are already exchanged. But it’s not written down in writing that we could do it,” he said.
“We are also able to act, so we do not have to, but we want to generate transfer revenue.”
Mainz have already recruited Edmilson Fernandes from West Ham this summer, someone Schroder sees as an upgrade on the in-demand Gbamin.
“Edimilson Fernandes (signed from West Ham). Matched by its nature, the position before the defence even better than Jean-Philippe ever did.”
Wolves are believed to be in the market for a central defender and Gbamin’s versatility is a major plus point as Nuno intends to keep a small squad at his disposal.
