‘Scary’ West Brom have been sent this big transfer warning
Darren Bent has warned that Craig Dawson’s departure is a big loss for West Bromwich Albion.
The former Rochdale defender called time on his Baggies career by finally sealing an exit, a full season after trying to force a move.
Dawson left for Watford for a fee in the region of £6m and former Aston Villa striker-turned pundit Bent, believes it was a real cup for the Hornets.
“He will be a huge loss. I mean I’ve tried to mark that guy at set plays and it’s impossible, honestly it’s impossible,” he told Football Insider .
“I’ve never seen someone who can jump so high like him. Scary, scary in the air but he’s someone that can play right back, centre-half and that’s a good signing for Watford, I believe.
“I don’t quite know where he’ll play there but as far as someone who can play all across the back he’s brilliant. A really professional good player but in the air it’s scary, I’ve never seen anything like it.
“Trying to hold him, if he gets a running jump on anybody he will out jump anybody, and he’s that good in the air,” he added. “For me, it’s a really, really good signing for Watford, a big loss to West Brom but at the end of the day you’re talking Championship versus the Premier League and he wants to better his career and also on a financial perspective will get more money playing in the Premier League.”
Albion have already made moves to replace to Dawson in this window. Slaven Bilic has bought in versatile defender Semi Ajayi, who made his Baggies debut during the 4-0 thrashing of Scunthorpe this weekend.
Bilic is believed to be close to sealing another two summer signings this week, with Darnell Furlong from QPR and Brentford winger Romaine Sawyers on his radar.
