Chelsea’s Ethan Ampadu joins RB Leipzig on loan
Ampadu & Chelsea
Ethan Ampadu joined Chelsea in the summer of 2017, moving from Exeter.
Since his move to Stamford Bridge, Ampadu has made 12 appearances for Chelsea’s senior side.
Five of those appearances came in the 2018/19 season, three in the Europa League and two in the FA Cup.
The 18-year-old has played just 10 minutes of Premier League football for Chelsea, an appearance vs Huddersfield during the 2017/18 season.
Ampadu sent out on loan
With Frank Lampard now at the helm and Chelsea unable to sign any players for two windows, Ampadu may have been hoping to get a bit more first-team experience this season.
However, the Welshman will not be getting it in England.
Instead, German outfit RB Leipzig have announced on July 22nd that they have secured the services of Ampadu on loan for the season.
Der 18-jährige Innenverteidiger wechselt von @ChelseaFC auf Leihbasis bis 2020 zu den Roten Bullen. Der Waliser erhält die Rückennummer 26.
Welcome to Leipzig, @ethanamp4!

On signing for RB Leipzig, Ampadu stated:
“I’m really happy to be wearing the RB Leipzig jersey now. I have heard a lot about the club and am convinced that the way football is played here suits me very well.
“I already know some of my new teammates: I’ve already played with Jean-Kévin Augustin in Paris, with Dayot Upamecano and Nordi Mukiele in the French U21 national team.
“Therefore, I am optimistic that I can come here quickly. “As quoted by RB Leipzig’s official website.
