Barcelona: Rakitic: My plan is to continue at Barcelona
Barcelona The midfielder doesn’t want to leave
Ahead of Barcelona‘s first pre-season fixture, Ivan Rakitic has made clear that he hopes to remain with the club.
There have been reports linking him with a move away from Catalonia, yet he is keen to stay.
“My plan is to continue with Barcelona,” Rakitic said at a press conference.
“It’s a situation that I’m used to since I signed here, as last year the same thing happened to me.
“I talked to the club and the coach, but my intention is very clear.
“I want to continue and continue enjoying my football because I have more years left on my contract.
“It doesn’t interest me to talk about my future, but I understand that football works in this way.
“In a way, I’m proud that other teams ask about me because it means I’m doing the right things.
“The only thing I see is Barcelona, everything else has to be taken calmly.
“I am trying to here enjoy my time with Barcelona and with these new teammates we want to create a strong group to rectify our mistakes.”
Frenkie de Jong‘s arrival is set to shuffle the Blaugrana’s midfield around, but Rakitic is ready to battle for his place in the side and will continue to work hard to impress Ernesto Valverde.
“Here you have to work and whoever performs is the one who plays,” he added.
“I will work hard so that the coach can count on me.
“I want to give the absolute best of myself, but the important thing is that we’re a strong group.”
