‘A little but very loud corner’ The scenes that will make Aston Villa fans proud
For one week only, a little but very loud corner of Minnesota was claret and blue.
Hundreds of ex-pats, U.S. natives and AVFC holidaymakers ventured to Minneapolis for Aston Villa’s pre-season tour.
The main event was Villa’s 3-0 victory over Minnesota United as Dean Smith’s men kicked off their countdown to a Premier League return by beating their MLS hosts.
But it was not just the friendly win at Allianz Field that brought supporters together, it was also the claret and blue camaraderie that was in full swing across the pond.

There was the chance to mingle with Smith, Jack Grealish, Tyrone Mings and their team-mates, while the club’s new Kappa away kit was launched during the tour.
Amidst all that, plenty of beer was consumed and Chicago Lions club chief Simon Leach even lost a big beard and an eyebrow, as part of a charity fundraiser for Acorns.
We asked fans on the popular Aston Villa America Facebook page to share their videos and photos of the week.
And now that those hangovers from the Brit’s Pub, the Villa fans’ HQ, have started to subside, the memories have been flooding in.
The videos you see on this page are courtesy of Michael Clark. As for the photos in the gallery there are too many supporters to name-check individually.
What we will say, however, to all those who have contributed is this – thanks for making us so welcome during our fantastic stay in the States – and UTV!
