The two players Man City ‘must sell’ to afford Harry Maguire and more rumours
If City want to sign Harry Maguire, they must first offload two first team defenders, reports say.
With Manchester United also circling and the transfer window closing in three weeks, time is running out to find a replacement for former captain Vincent Kompany.
Leicester insist it will take a world record transfer fee for a defender to persuade them to part with Maguire, and City have so far been reluctant to pay the reported £80m asking price.
City have already signed Rodri this summer for a club record £63m.
According to Duncan Castles on the Transfer Window Podcast (via the Star ), City have agreed a deal for the Portuguese defender and Juventus have a replacement lined up, but the Blues are struggling to offload Danilo first.
Danilo has started both City’s pre-season games so far on the right of defence, but Pep Guardiola is thought to be open to selling him this summer.
La Gazzetta (quoted by Calciomercato ) follow that up by saying the deal will be completed soon as both parties are eager to sort the saga out, with no mention of Danilo’s future at City.
