Man United move isn’t happening, maybe Spurs
Bayern Munich 3 – Real Madrid 1
Real Madrid lost 3-1 to Bayern Munich in their opening pre-season match of the summer.
Of course, Los Blancos endured a poor, trophy-less campaign in 2018-19.
Goals from Corentin Tolisso, Robert Lewandowski and Serge Gnabry put Bayern 3-up before a late consolation from Rodrygo.
Zinedine Zidane: Gareth Bale is leaving
Gareth Bale played no part in the match against Bayern Munich.
After the game, Zinedine Zidane confirmed that the club plan to sell Bale imminently:
Bale did not play because he is very close to leaving.
We hope he leaves soon. It would be best for everyone. We are working on his transfer to a new team.
I have nothing personal against him, but there comes a time where things are done because they must be done, I have to make decisions. We have to change.
The exit is the coach’s decision, and also of the player, who knows the situation.
The situation will change, I do not know if in 24 or 48 hours, but it will, and it’s a good thing for everyone.
Man United move isn’t happening, maybe Tottenham
So where is Bale likely to go?
According to ESPN’s Mark Ogden, Bale won’t be joining Man United. Readers are told:
Sources have confirmed to ESPN that Manchester United are not in the running to sign Bale.
Could Bale return to Tottenham?
That possibility was raised by Spanish paper Marca last week.
It’s @marca‘s front-page story for tomorrow.

ESPN suggest the Spurs move could happen, reporting:
The reported deal would see Madrid receiving a €50-60m transfer fee with Spurs paying around half of his €17m-a-year salary, and Madrid handing the winger €25m up front to cover the remaining three years of his contract.
However, when Bale’s agent spoke to TalkSport last week about a possible move back to Tottenham, Jonathan Barnett rejected the suggestion.
